Dengie helps keep my sheep’s guts healthy!

Rhian Rochford has had an exceptionally good year in the show ring in 2024 with her small flock of 12 breeding Black Welsh Mountains ewes and 4 breeding ewes of Coloured Ryelands. “Our home bred ram Camelot Enzo Ferrari won the Aged Ram class at the Royal Welsh as well as Male Champion at the Royal Bath & West and Interbreed Champion at the New Forest show. Our Black Welsh Mountain Group of three also won the Interbreed Group at the New Forest show as well as Reserve Breed Group at the Royal Welsh” enthuses Rhian who also finds time to work as a vet! Not to be outdone, Rhian’s daughter Elise also won the intermediate Young Handler class at the Royal Bath & West show qualifying her for the National Young Shepherd finals.

Rhian adds “I use Dengie Alfa-A Original mixed with sheep coarse mix 50:50 during the show season for all my show sheep. This adds fibre into their diet and reduces the risk of acidosis whilst they are in the barn the day before and during a show. I also use it in a mixed ration at lambing time with ewe nuts and sugar beet. As a vet I know how important it is to keep my sheep’s gut healthy and I feel that the Dengie products help me with this immensely”.

Rhian also likes to use the Dengie Pure Grass ad lib in buckets the day before and whilst at a show for all of her show sheep as it reduces the amount of hay she has to pick out of their fleeces so they are in pristine show ring condition. This attention to detail clearly makes the difference given Rhian’s successes this year!
