Dengie Nutrition Team

Our highly experienced and qualified nutrition team have are here to help answer your feeding queries and help to fine tune your horse or pony’s diet. Technical & Product Development Manager

Katie has worked as an equine nutritionist for nearly 30 years. In 2023 Katie completed her PhD in Veterinary Medicine Research at the University of Glasgow. Katie studied the inter-professional dynamics between the nutritionist and veterinary professions and presented her work at European conferences and the Equine Science Society Symposium in Texas. Following her PhD, Katie lead the development of the BETA EBFAR accreditation scheme for equine feed advisers and nutritionists of which she is now a member! Katie is  Vice-Chair of the British Equestrian Trade Association’s Feed Committee and is a member of the NOPS working party. Katie has continued her studies and is working on further post-doctoral research including evaluating the provision of nutrition training in the veterinary curriculum around the world. Katie’s areas of research interest also include peri-operative nutrition and fibre as an energy source for the athletic horse. Katie works closely with various higher education institutions including University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh and ARU Writtle and supervises students up to doctoral level.

As Technical & Product Development Manager for Dengie, Katie is responsible for creating new products and ensuring they are legally compliant. She overseas the QC and Accreditations teams which includes responsibility for sustainability initiatives within the business. Katie also provides technical support for key customers and is honoured to support the King’s studs at Sandringham and Balmoral.

Senior Equine Nutritionist

Tracey joined the Dengie Nutrition Team in 2004 whilst completing her Master’s in Equine Science. Now with more than 20 years of experience, Tracey is a Registered Nutritionist (Animal) with the Association for Nutrition and is also accredited by BETA ENFAR. Tracey provides evidence-based nutrition advice to horse owners via phone, email and during face-to-face consultations. Tracey also provides educational talks to audiences ranging from horse owners to universities, offers training to retailers, collaborates with vets, and writes articles for the Dengie website and media.

Claire’s interest in horses began at an early age leading her to follow a career in the equine industry and studying Equine Science to MSc. Claire specialises in nutrition for the performance and sport horse, advising our ambassadors and supported riders on the best Dengie fibre diet for their horses, helping to keep them looking and performing at their best.

Katie Reeve Equine Nutritionist

Equine Nutritionist

Katie is a Registered Nutritionist (Animal) with the Association for Nutrition and is also accredited by BETA ENFAR. Katie has worked in the equine feed industry for over ten years, and her responsibilities include providing nutrition advice for a wide range of horse owners and professionals, producing technical written content for equestrian publications, and delivering educational talks and training. In 2020, she completed her Master’s degree at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focussed on the use of weigh tapes, and she presented her findings at the European Workshop on Equine Nutrition (EWEN) in the summer of 2022. She enjoys keeping up to date with the latest research and translating this into clear, practical guidance for horse owners.

Katie came to Dengie after finishing an Equine Science degree at The Royal Agricultural University. Katie’s role as a Feed Advisor involves answering a wide range of feeding enquiries, as well as creating personalised feeding rations for horses, ponies and a variety of other animals. Katie grew up around horses and regularly competes in her spare time, she can often be seen out side saddle both in the hunting field as well as competing in dressage and showing classes.

Feed Advisor & Admin Assistant

Lottie joined the Dengie team shortly after finishing her degree in Equine Science at Writtle University College. Lottie started riding and caring for horses at a young age, and competes in dressage and show jumping with her mare Millie and enjoys countryside hacks with her gelding Houdini. Lottie has a keen interest in equine behaviour and in particular the relationship between feeding and behaviour. Lottie’s role as a Feed Advisor involves replying to Feedline enquiries and general office administrative duties.
