The amount and kind of work your horse or pony is doing is an important factor when calculating the quantity and type of feed to give. Try to use a fibre based diet to promote a healthy digestive system and only use cereal based feeds if absolutely necessary.

How To Get The Most Out Of Feeding With Dengie Hi-Fi Original
Hi-Fi Original can be fed as the sole energy source: just add a broad-spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement or balancer.
Hi-Fi Original can also be fed as a partial forage replacer. The average section of hay weighs around 2kgs which can be replaced with 2kgs of Hi-Fi Original. As Hi-Fi Original is a short ‘chop’ it takes as long to eat as the equivalent weight of hay or haylage and so helps to keep horses occupied and satisfied. Unlike hay and haylage which can vary in nutritional content from batch to batch, Hi-Fi Original provides consistent nutrition.

How does Dengie Hi-Fi Original compare to a normal chaff?
Hi-Fi Original is much more than just a chaff due to the inclusion of alfalfa as part of its formulation. Compared to an entirely straw based chaff, alfalfa supplies more quality protein and naturally occurring minerals. These help to build and repair tissues like muscles and hoof horn.
If I step up from Dengie Hi-Fi Lite to Hi-Fi Original will it help my horse maintain weight in winter?
Whilst Hi-Fi Original is fractionally higher calorie at 8 MJ/kg DE than Hi-Fi Lite at 7.5 MJ/kg DE, if replacing like for like it is unlikely to make a significant difference to your horse’s calorie intake. If you horse needs more help to maintain weight in the winter step up to a product from our Alfa-A range of fibre feeds.
Can Dengie Hi-Fi Original be used as a forage replacer?
Hi-Fi Original can be used as a partial forage replacer and can be fed up to a maximum daily quantity of 1kg per 100kg of bodyweight. For example, a 500kg horse could have up to 5kg per day.
