Perfect for a fussy good doer with a history of ulcers

Spirit is a 15.3hh Cob x Oldenburg who has a history of ulcers, so his owner Liz is cautious about what he is fed. He lives out 24/7 but on restricted grazing as he is such a good doer.

“I have tried various ulcer friendly feeds in the past but as they are typically higher calorie it resulted in unwanted weight gain” explains Spirit’s owner Liz. “Despite being a good doer, he can also be quite fussy too!”

When Dengie Performance Horse Nutritionist Claire Akers first visited Spirit at a diet clinic in July, he weighed 638kg and was overweight. Claire suggested they trial the new Dengie Ulser Lite alongside a balancer. Being lower calorie, Spirit could have a larger quantity of Ulser Lite to provide him with additional fibre and chew time helping to keep his digestive system healthy. The balancer alongside ensured he was getting a balanced diet providing him with all the vitamins and minerals he needs.

When Claire visited again 3 months later in October he weighed 620kg and although there is still some weight to lose, he is definitely looking trimmer.

“Spirit loves the new Dengie Ulser Lite, he feels great and has also lost nearly 20kg since Claire last weighed him. He has plenty of energy and looks fabulous” says Liz. “We attend regular clinics and now have a competition plan going forward with our next outing being the Riding Club area show jumping qualifiers at Arena UK”.
