The amount and kind of work your horse or pony is doing is an important factor when calculating the quantity and type of feed to give. Try to use a fibre based diet to promote a healthy digestive system and only use cereal based feeds if absolutely necessary.

Hi-Fi Molasses Free is a straight feed and although alfalfa is abundant in natural nutrients a source of broad-spectrum vitamins and minerals should be added alongside to ensure a balanced diet. Hi-Fi Molasses Free may be fed dry or dampened with water, or a soaked product such as Dengie Alfa-Beet. To use Hi-Fi Molasses Free as a partial forage replacement, replace your forage on a weight for weight basis up to 1kg per 100kgs bodyweight of the total forage fed.
Fortunately for her owner Raine lives off fresh air, but this also makes it challenging to manage her weight. With the help from the Dengie Nutrition team, Lucy has found a ration that works perfectly for Raine.

When tasting the different chaffs, Luca was very keen on what was revealed to be Dengie’s Hi-Fi Molasses Free. Although Luca is not actually laminitic, he is a good doer and also very hot headed, so his owner tries to keep sugar levels to a minimum to avoid weight gain and excess energy.

No, Hi-Fi Molasses Free does not contain any added vitamins and minerals, so we would recommend feeding this alongside recommended quantities of a fortified feed, balancer or broad-spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement.
Both Hi-Fi Lite and Hi-Fi Molasses Free are low energy, high fibre feeds suitable for good doers and those prone to laminitis. Hi-Fi Molasses Free is a blend of chopped and pelleted alfalfa and straw which contains added rapeseed oil as well as mint and fenugreek for palatability. Hi-Fi Lite doesn’t contain pellets and is just simply chopped alfalfa and straw with a light molasses coating. Being pellet-free, Hi-Fi Lite provides more chew time per scoop so is great for keeping horses occupied for longer – it can also be used as a total or partial forage replacer for those with poor dentition or to extend forage supply for good doers. Whilst Hi-Fi Molasses Free can be used as a partial forage replacer, it is not suitable to completely replace the forage ration due to its higher oil content.
Dengie Hi-Fi Lite and Hi-Fi Molasses Free are both relatively low in sugar – much lower than a grass hay and both are low in calories – however Hi-Fi Molasses Free is 65% lower in sugar, but 13% higher in calories compared to Hi-Fi Lite. This is simply because we use a light oil coating on Hi-Fi Molasses Free, rather than a light molasses coating that is used in Hi-Fi Lite.

I have been using this now for around 5 weeks, horse looking great on it, lost some weight too which is a bonus. smells lovely
Jill –
Great tasting, palatable, feed, with added pellets for interest, my pony loves this as, can feed generously but without added calories he doesn’t require, so happy pony, good quality, value feed.
Verity –
Excellent, this was a life saver when my horse was very ill with laminitis. Still use now and all my horses love it

I’ve never met a pony that is such a good doer as mine is and thankfully this never puts weight on her. She absolutely loves the varied pellets. She can be fussy with her hard feed but she wolfs this down everytime, also smells amazing! Definitely her long-term feed
